Okay, so I had a clunking noise from the front of my car(or so I thought it was the front) for quite awhile. Normally happened when turning the wheel almost all the way to either side, with some movement either back or forward. I had pretty much exhausted all possible checks for loose nuts, bolts, etc.
The upper rear shock mounting bracket was loose. The nut on the shock rod had backed off allowing the mounting bracket about a half inch of play up & down. The mounting bracket itself was tight to the car, but not to the shock.
I had previously shaken the shocks to see if they were loose, but I never thought to check for up & down movement. Drove home and absolutely no clunking noise at all
Now that you say that, I had the same issue, while still under the extended warranty the mechanics tighened everything in the front of the car and could never find anything.
End of last year I changed all the shocks to C6's, only been driving it a few weeks so far this year and don't remember hearing the clunk
Going to push the steering on the way home today to see if its still there or the new shocks fixed the issue
