Title says it all. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I've taken apart the dash more times than I care to admit, but for some reason I cannot figure out the problem. I already ordered a new set of buttons from corvettesalvage, but I'm not so sure that the buttons are bad. Before they would work intermittently, now they just don't work at all.
My newest thought is that it might be the ICM (instrument cluster module), since when I turn on the car, it seems like the HUD preferences are reset (I usually turn off everything but the speedometer, but instead everything gets reset to show everything)
If you have taken it apart you probably know the IPC way better than me. The book isn't much help as the procedures suggest a pre-emptive change of the DIC switch or the IPC.
Thinking logically, the switch is sealed so its unusual that all the buttons are out. That makes me think connector. It connects to the IPC with a single gray wire through connector A11 to the data bus. The DIC switch display signal is set by the selection on the switch. Could it be a bent/bad pin?
Reset of memory settings is usually a symptom of a battery issue but, again not sure why that would affect the DIC selection. Maybe that also suggests a bad connection and it's losing its setting?
Starting with a switch change is a good start I'd say.
