Default emissions inspections

Anyone in North Carolina with a C5 vette and no cats able to pass an emissions inspection? I could use any suggestions, I stupidly went to a tireshop to get the inspections since it was right near my job and the first thing they do is put the car on a lift. was hoping the resonators would pass as high flow cats from a visual inspection point but apparently not. The rear o2's were disabled thanks to a mail order tune, but they are physically still connected in the pipes so visually they are there. Any suggestions besides just putting cats on would be great and appreciated.

thanks

As a fellow catless C5 owner in NC with them tuned out, I'll have to deal with this come next inspection for me.

As you said, your best bet is to find a shop that is a bit... lazy when it comes to inspections. If you have a relationship with any performance shops in your area, maybe they can point you in a good direction when it comes to that.

thats the funny part, I was going to goto one of the quality nc inspection places because I was afraid of this but I opted out of the 30 minute drive each way. Those places don't have a lift and are afraid to lift my car(I asked them about that last year since I saw them using a floor jack on just about every other vehicle but didn't bring it near mine). Now that it's in the system even they will likely try to look.

so does this mean either the people who have passed and know how don't want to be known or no one from NC reads this forum.

How about this, I can put cats on but the rear o2's have been tuned out, would I be able to pass the test with them tuned out?

again appreciate any replies.

awesome link, might need to go that route, but I also found these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Universal-Spun-Catalytic-Converter-high-flow-universal-spun-410300-608387/251300671418?_trksid=p2047675.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D333005%26algo%3DRIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D8%26meid%3D8987324795661169975%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D1076%26rk%3D11%26sd%3D161009288388%26
These technically don't look any larger or different than the resonators in the pipes so if that's the case then it comes down to opinion on those being cats or not. Eitherway thanks for the link, if I don't get it to pass I will likely pick up a pair of those.

Putting cats on will do fine.

Once you have a tune to disable the rear O2s, my understanding of the issue is failing visual inspection where they see there are no cats, assuming there is no "sniffer" test which I don't think happens in NC where they actually physically meter the air in the exhaust for various bad content.

With the ones you linked I would be worry about them blowing out, they look extremely cheap. With my link you do not have to worry about power etc its basically a strait pipe with car shields welded to it

Unless you know someone willing to "overlook" the missing cats, your best bet would probably be the straight-pipes StealthFRC linked above.

This option may go over well depending; if it shows the failed visual inspection and it looks like you have new converters put on, i doubt it would be questioned too much.

What size pipes do you have? I have a set of LG high flow cats that my car blew the catalyst out of, so essentially gutted. If you want them $20 plus shipping and they're yours.

There are scratches on one of them from bottoming out, but no leaks.

so I went back to the place that has inspected the car the past 2 years and it passed with no issue. It passed the OBDII portion with no problem, where it failed before was the "Tampering Inspection" which is apparently up to the inspector to determine if there is an issue. This time it took 15 minutes for the inspection. At the first place it took almost an hour and not sure how much of that time was because the guy didn't know how to open the fuel filler door.

Once again I appreciate all the suggestions and glad I didn't need to go through with them.
