What's goin on guys? I just picked up my first Corvette a couple of weeks ago, its a Torch Red 1997 Automatic Coupe with 107k miles...I already love it!
I bought it with a few things that need to be fixed on it, but I feel like I got a good enough deal on it to fix these things myself.
-A/C compressor
-Crack in windshield
-Re-tint rear window
-small tear in drivers seat
everything else on the car seems to be PERFECT! it runs smooth, and it puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel, Im 23 years old and have been dreaming of getting a C5 my whole life, its the first corvette that I really noticed in my childhood...any info, tips, and tricks are well appreciated!
Congrats buddy & welcome to the madness!! I think a vette has been the dream car of many folks, so we know what you feel like. Enjoy the car & I live in Jacksonville, Fl so not too far from where you are.
Congratulations and welcome. Checkout the stickies both here and in the tech section. There's a ton of good info there. Also using the advanced search function is your friend. The other way to search here is to use google search and just add corvetteforum as one of your search arguments.
I can't believe it's not here yet but; pictures are mandatory (yes, there's are threads on how to post 'em.
Do some research on the AC compressor, If I remember correctly you will have to drain the coolant and remove the water pump to change it. So if you have a high mileage car it would be a good time to replace the water pump. Hope this helps ya.

Thanks for the info, you're correct about the water pump, it has to come off and I already planned on replacing it and the belt while I did the job..
pics incoming, ill post some picture of some things that I tried out on the vette already with plastidip to mock up how it would look...I plan on removing my BSM today...looked up a few threads on how to do it with fishing line and some goo gone! wish me luck!
and here are some pictures of before, during, and after of mt fascia mod..I mocked it up with plastidip and its off now, I may end up doing the lines with some electrical tape to make it looks smoother if I decide to keep it

Congrats and welcome to C5 ownership! I had to wait to the age of 42 for my first vette so you're doing pretty good
thanks, and thanks everyone else for the warm welcomes! glad I didn't have to wait that long! hopefully it will get fixed soon! especially that A/C!! I kinda like that it needs a few things to be fixed here and there, it's just bonding time that I get to enjoy with her plus, I always HAVE to have something to tinker with so I don't go CRAZY!
I bought my Corvette in Atlanta (where I live) and drove it here to Savannah (where my second house is) and popped the hood and noticed some hay looking stuff under one of the rail covers, so I pulled it out and there was more...so I took the engine cover off and low and behold found THIS!!
A MOUSE NEST!!! I am so surprised this stuff didnt catch fire, because it had been a while since my car was running and I was burning my finger tips on the engine getting it out! this is what I ended up with!
pieces of plastic bags, hay, wood, yard, fishing line, etc etc....I put a flame to it and it went up like a..wait for it..hay barn! I was really surprised the car didnt catch fire after I pulled it all out..thank God, because I would NOT have been happy!
You did good man, "97's" are great cars! I can't believe you removed the "mouse" injector system though. That is a super rare and very "stealth" mod that few have on their cars! You probably noticed a big power drop afterwards..
Good luck and welcome to the "madness"
