Ok, I'm finally breaking down and doing a full detail job on the '03 (my first so be gentle )
I'd ask in the detailing forum but answers there are somewhat sparce a lot of the times. So I've foamed and then washed (2 bucket of course) with Dawn to remove any wax that was on the paint. Now I am claybarring it.
Do you clay bar your wheels too? I know, may be a stupid question but if you're supposed to I'd rather find out now than after I get done with two go-rounds with the buffer.
I do it regularly. Claying does a good job of removing brake dust and other stuff that sticks to the wheels. Use small pieces and throw them away after.
I used a ****** old piece of clay to do one part of one of my wheels that got some track rubber melted onto it, just a couple weeks ago. WOW, clay just never fails to amaze me. As stated above I would use dirty clay for it as it was devistated by the crap it pulled off the wheel and is totally brown now from doing 1 wheel.

I've also clay barred my wheels. I found some wheel clay bar on Autogeeks web site when I was ordering some items form them last year so I added it to the order. Works good and can also be used on my B&B exhaust.
I have clayed painted and clear-coated wheels. Have not tried it on bare metal or chrome surfaces, although if the clay was clean I would not think it would damage a chrome surface. I would be cautious on bare polished aluminum as it is soft. As stated, tear off small pieces of new or clean clay, do a wheel or a small bit at a time depending on how much dirt/contamination/brake dust is on it, and then throw the clay piece away. I apply Rejex afterwards which seems to help with keeping the contaminants/brake dust from accumulating as fast.
Thanks all. Haven't gotten there yet. Got through with the M105 - the 205 (tomorrow) should go a bit faster I'd think, but maybe not. I may try an area of clay vs an area of not just to see. They aren't that bad, I was just thinkin' which is usually dangerous.
