Default First time on a race track!!!

Hi Guys,

So CASA of Will County put on a Corvette show this weekend at Autobahn Raceway in Joliet. I don't usually enter car shows, but one of the perks of this one was the prospect of parade laps out on the track. After 5-10 laps around the track I'm hooked!!! Registering for driving school right away!!! Here are a few out-on-track pics!!

They had a pace car out in front, so I didn't bother trying to max the straightaways. If anything I was using the straights to get a huge gap between myself and the car in front of me for the corners. That having been said, after a couple of laps I was hitting the corners at full speed. Probably took some aggressive corners at 50-60 mph, getting the rear end loose on the exit. SO MUCH FUN!!!

I bought sway bars a while back from a guy named Rich Anderson, who teaches for Hooked on Driving. I think I'm going to start there

AutobahnCC is sorta MEH too. I have run autobahnCC, bhf, and Road America in the vette now. Figure out a way to get to RA. The cars are so at home there with the high speed corners and plenty of space to use the horsepower.

Autobahncc with stock power levels and my skill level top speed is 11x. I saw 120-121 at blackhawk and 14x at RA. The higher speed corners at RA are great in the vette though for sure. Going into 5 at 14x is a pretty scary feeling too, but good scary. Get to RA

I have every intention of getting there at some point. I drive up for the ALMS race every year and have a fascination for the track. Autobahn is a stepping stone for sure, but racing is a passion I've always had and I can't wait to track the car more regularly!!

Thanks! I think it helps make the car look at home on the race track

I think I hit 122-125 mph in Mike Ns T1 car on the south course back straight.

Not really a high speed track, but fun corners, the last few corners coming into the front straight,

I saw your picture posted by Autobahn on there facebook. Like them at Autobahn Country Club to see the pictures of all the cars. I used to work at the only full service shop located on the track (Eurosport Racing). BTW that shop does GREAT work, one of very few I would trust with my car. Glad to see some Corvettes out there I'm sure it was a blast!

Cars looking good as well!

Nice car! I especially like the flat black fender stripes.

I notice you had no helmet. I wasn't aware that it was legal to enter a race track with no helmet. I guess it varies from place to place?

They were supposed to be just "parade laps", as we had a pacecar going about 50 or so. That didn't stop me from dragging behind on the straights, and attacking the corners at full force, however

That's fantastic! I just visited the Daytona track tour last week. What did you think of that 30 degree pitch?

What's that device on your windshield - a GPS? If so, did you use it to determine where the straights/curves were coming up, or perhaps to record your path(s) around the track?

Great fun!
