Now that the weather has warmed up in Philly, I've been driving with the windows down. I've started to notice a squealing noise when the tach hits 5k the noise is coming from the rear of the car. Anybody got any ideas, I've got about 7500 miles and the car is 6 months old :nonod:
Is this accompanied by a cloud of smoke and the aroma of burning rubber generally in 1st and 2nd years? You might want to check for some abnormal tire wear as well.
Sorry, a little Friday humor. Are you sure the noise is coming from the back? To me a tire squeals, so does a belt. Other types of noises are better described with terms like clunk, bump, squeak, crunch, etc. Does the noise happen in a straight line, or going around a corner (and which direction). Since your trans is back there, I suppose it could be anything, but of course I'm no expert...any one gear that it happens in most? Sorry I couldn't help more, but some more info would help our other members.

I used to get this last summer, at around 3-4k RPM, at first it sounded like a serpentine belt but upon futher examination the noise seemed to be coming from the throttle body. Little vaccume leak I suppose, posted my problem here and a few people said it was normal and no fix from the dealer. So I lived with it for a few more hot days, and it went away. Haven't heard it since.
Not saying this is your problem, but check under the hood too when revving the engine up, see if it's not coming from there.
