Normally when I receive a part via FedEx or UPS for my car I am a bit excited about it. You know...something new and cool to add to the car. Well, last night when I got home there was a box on the front porch (initial excitement). Went and grabbed the box, started opening (still excited to see what it is) and it was (insert drum roll here) a brand new, never used, shiny.......(excitement building).....(almost unwrapped)......HUD bezel. I felt like the kid in the Christmas Story movie when he opened the box with the pink bunny suit in it.
Okay, not excited about this part. Now I have to take the dash apart.
It would probably go a lot quicker if I was not in the habit of cleaning everything like it was new before I put it back together. Now I have to wait for a rainy day to spend the required 2-3 hours to replace the bezel.
yea, thats a not so friendly one. I plan to do all the "dash" mods at once, I have to replace my hazard switch and want to add a input into the radio, and hvac and radio LEDs.
If lack of enthusiasm is the case, try and find a desireable mod you want that you can do at the same time as the not-so-exciting fix. For instance, perhaps installing a set of gauge bezels would make the job more palatable.

you must sling wrenches like a madman, to finish that job in 2-3 hours
I'm thinking if the HUD in my 01 starts acting up, I'll just plasti-dip over the window and get back in the habit of looking at the gages in the dash.

No, the HUD itself is fine. Just have to replace the cracked bezel. May take a little longer, but I have had most of the dash off before and I am fairly familiar with it.
