Finally pulled the trigger and bought a convertible a few weeks ago after 20 years of Corvette ownership. I really am enjoying the open air ride and it's much easier to achieve with the vert compared to the targa. Top stays down in the garage most of the time and only goes up when the temp is above 90, or highway speed is above 75. Bought the car with a custom tune and was not happy with the driveability. Threw a stock tune minus CAGS, lowered fan temps (160 degree stat), and corrected speedo error (indicating low and I typically drive 5-8 over the posted limit - yikes) and it drives like a dream now. I suspect the tuner was looking for max HP but since I drive more like a granny most of the time cruising, I like the stock tune much better. Doesn't buck and jerk on gear changes now and the mileage seems to be one or two MPG better. Here's a pic just after I got it so I don't get blasted for no pics, but the top hasn't been up much since then.
I'm with you on the Vert also. Never really wanted one, never wanted white and for that matter never wanted a Corvette. Then one day bam !! I got all three at once and have been having a ball ever since.
Our first Corvette was a convertible. Much easier to get into with the top down, so ours stays down pretty much all the time too... and we can keep it down in the winter too!
Loving my vert too...Only had it since June. The extended rainy season we've had down south has been a thorn, but those pretty days with the top down breathing that sweet southern air sure makes up for it...
First "mod" I got for her. Really comes in handy when my best buddy is riding along (and he usually is) to lock the doors and put up the windows to keep him secure in the car.
Love my vert too! We live up near Seattle and we just tell folks it rains all the time. We do that so everyone doesn't want to move here and make it too crowded.
