So while the car was sitting in the garage with the window down the drivers window decided to shatter in the door. Fortunately the tint held 90% of it together so very little cleaning. Not sure what caused it other then a weak spot in the glass. Strange since it was rolled down and should have had very little stress on it. Better then than on the road.
More importantly, does anyone know if the glass is the same on all 3 models? Finding a window for a convertible is a challenge compared to the coupe. Its also comical that GM wants $470 for that window.
Going to buy used so trying to expand my options if possible.
Go online and find the nearest Safelite glass dealer / installer. I recently replaced the HUD windshield on my Z and saved over $800 compared to the OEM glass price.
Rock Auto sells glass for the C5's now. I'm not sure if they carry side windows, though, you'll have to check. I do know the windshields are fives times or more lower than Safelite sells them for.

There's a dealer here who specializes in wrecked Vettes but I can't remember his name. He should have what you need. A lot of guys here have recommended him in the past so maybe you should put up another post to search for him.
Good luck

How's your HUD clarity with the non-GM replacement windshield?
For what the glass cost I am not worried about making a claim with insurance. I hate dealing with the claims office. They are always in slow motion. I want to clean my car and drive it so going to just buy one out of pocket.
Looks like the link Evil-Twin posted is close to me. Has a few scratches but will get me going till I can find a clean one.
A similar thing happened to me in 1979. I had a Lotus Elite (like the little white car in a James Bond movie) and while driving along on the highway, the driver's window exploded, shattering me with a thousand pieces of glass fragments that went all over me, down my neck, all over the car. No injury, as this was "safety glass", no sharp edges, just thousands of small squares of glass. I brought the car back to the dealer to get this replaced and he gave me a hard time saying I must have banged it or it got hit by a rock, etc, etc. When I went back to the dealer a few days later to pick up the car with a new side window in it, as the two of us were walking over to the car, the window again spontaneously exploded right in front of us 30' away. I asked the dealer if he threw a rock at it, he looked at me, uttered a few choice words, and again I got into the loaner car he gave me and said "see ya, call me when it's fixed". He wasn't too happy, but after I got it back the second time, it never happened again in the 20+ more years that I owned the car. The exploding window was thought to be due to "stress in the glass", a BS explanation because nobody could say why it happened.
