Hey guys! My 02 Vert is having electrical issue... When I get into the car and shut my door and when I press the break peddle my fog light light up and the front turn signals glow.... Any idea what may be causing this? No codes And I do have LEDs lights and hyper flash harness...and
When the car is running and all lighs are off.. I press the break peddle .. Then door pad, stereo and dash display light up along with my fog lights come on. And my break light come on as they should! Any ideas!??
Question: in your first sentence is the key in the ignition (or ON) when you press the brake petal? I will look at my FSM and see what I come up with. I will look at all the circuits that are affected by the brake petal switch assembly.
Auto or Manual ?
PS: Just in case, pull your codes and see if you have anything
Quick look at my FSM, the one thing that "touches" all these is the BCM. I would like to see what Bill Curlee says if he is able to weigh in.
Thanks for the info. At this point, I don't see a relationship to having LEDs (assuming this did not start happening as soon as you did the modification).
This is the type of multiple bizarre behavior that is normally the BCM or a serial data bus type of problem. The brake switch does connect to the EBCM which then feeds to the BCM. Still trying to wrap my brain about where to start trouble shooting. Give me a little more time.
Do this, try putting the key in the ignition and press the brake and note what happens. Next put the key in the "ON" position and do the same thing and see what happens. That will tell us what happens under all conditions.

Okay I did both and the out come was pretty much the same issue fog and front side turn signals come on and stereo and a/c and door panel light up and with key on the same but speed dash lights up..? Don't know if this helps but when i did the above with the fog light switch off the fog lights don't come on but the front side markers do glow ..?
Also, please confirm whether the turn signal or park lamp is actually lighting up, I hope it is the park lamp.
With the fog light issue out of the way I have found out the following:
In the daytime, if the front park lamps are turned on, the instrument panel, HVAC, and radio lights all go to full bright. Will do some more research and may need to get some more info. Not sure how the door lights factor in yet.
Went to my warehouse were I keep my car. When I got in the door light switches for both sides lite up with the courtesy lights inside. Never noticed that before.
Also, do you have Twilight Sentinel?
Need you to PM or email me with your phone number. At this point talking will be more efficient. Want to discuss several things. BTW, I live in Columbia, SC which is not far from you if it comes to that. Once we find the issue, we can post the result.
brake pedal Just wanted to put those two words in this thread in case anyone is searching for a similar issue. Search only finds what is in the thread.
BCM. It controls every one of those items. I'd remove the LEDs first, but without load balancing resistors on them, they act almost like a short as they have virtually no resistance. After that, remove and clean the bcm contacts.
