On cold starts and expecially when I run my AC I hear a loud squeaky noise on my car. I just replaced the alternator belt and I replaced the tensioner and its belt. What else do you experts think it may be?
Have you ever changed the balancer? That's what mine was...
Was just going to mention this. I hear squeaky belts are one of the symptoms of the harmonic balancer coming apart. I was not lucky enough to get any subtle symptoms before mine let go....
I had some "chirping" and found the upper tensioner had a wobbly pulley so I changed it and the belt out.
So then the chirping continued, but different. I tried listening with a piece of garden hose and for some reason could NOT find the pulley that was chirping.
I suspected I might have the "wobbly balancer" syndrome as it just looked like it was shaking just a little.
Took it to a locally renowned Corvette guru and he said the balancer was fine, it was the AC tensioner/idler....and the water pump.
All quiet now.
Not sure if this really helps you but that was my experience.
