Default Removing Instrument Cluster with HUD

So I wanted to put the silver rings on the gauges and got the cluster almost out after dropping the column but there's a harness for the HUD
that doesn't seem to have a clip to unhook it.
Am I missing something to unhook this 2nd harness so I can remove the cluster?

No clip, it's just a friction connection. Work it out carefully and you'll be OK.

I have disassembled the front of my dash before but never gone so far as that picture in http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...post1570380878. Do you or some other forum member have good documentation on the disassembly of the dash in order to remove the instrument cluster? I would appreciate a forum web link or directions before I proceed with the repair of my tach. It has an aperiodic short.

Go to vetteessentials website. I think they have a very detailed how-to. It involves removal for gauge trim-ring installation, but still same procedure.

Perfect! Just what I needed to get the cluster out. I thought I had to take the top of the dash off to access the instrument cluster. BTW, I may as well order a set of gauge trim rings and install them while the cluster is out.
Thanks for the pointer.

It's kinda funny that many manufacturers are getting away from ringed instruments. It was the big thing when the C6 came out, but the 2014 C7 has but one ring (the center gauge). All others are like the C5's gauges!

I guess if you wait long enough, your ride gets back in style!

Glad to help.

For future reference, that same site also has other very well detailed "how-tos" regarding other interior elements as well.
When he was still with us, Ken was a real stickler for meticulous details and photos in his installation instructions. They continue to sell very high quality items with a real focus on customer service as well.

Those are great instructions. A fellow CF member, SteveL2, did all of those instructions for Ken back in the day. As a matter of fact, the pics of the instrument cluster bezel install are of my 02 Vert . I have everything that Ken and Sandy produced for the C5. Great people and great products.

Highly recommend the VetteEssentials sight for how-to's on interior tear-down!

Looks really good. Wish GM had put those on the car from the factory.

I did my trim rings when I had to repl my HUD. They look really neat at night. I used Amazing Goop to glue mine in. Took car to VIR 2 weeks later - 107* outside, must have been 140* inside during tracking sessions. Rings never came loose after 2 days of that. I highly recommend it.
