I recently bought my first C5. It came with aftermarket SS exhaust system that I will try to describe since CF does not give me the option to post pics.
The tail pipe comes directly back to 2 round polished tips. Before it gets to the tips there are 2 right angle pipes going into a stainless muffler.
Can anyone tell me what I have? It is very loud and I can't imagine much exhaust goes through the muffler.
The system has crossover pipes ahead of the tail pipes.
My car is a cruiser so I want more quiet. Any suggestions?
The PRT uses an anti-drone exhaust technology unique to the aftermarket called Purge Resonance Technology (or PRT). A combination of sound cancellation and absorption principals create reflecting sound pulses that ultimately cancel out drone, as well as tune the exhaust to achieve the classic BB sound. The design allows true straight through exhaust passage under aggressive driving conditions for a deep and throaty roar, while a mellow no-drone sound is emitted at cruising speeds. PRT allows for considerable power gains as well.
Purge Resonance Technology is incorporated in two of our exhaust systems; the PRT and the Fusion. Check them out on our website www.bbexhaust.com.
Just an idea, but if you go to the for sale section, I'm sure you can find someone near you that will trade the Z06 titanium exhaust (little bit louder than the base model exhaust but still very mellow) + maybe a bit of cash for yours. Or even one of the mellower aftermarket systems.
If I didn't have an aggressive exhaust I would trade in a heart beat. If you decide you want to sell this one, let me know for how much. I'm just outside of Columbia.
