Default Corvette Question Please

Hello everyone,

I have a question for all you corvette owners. I am looking to finally purchase a vette however As I am getting married soon I dont have a large amount of money IE 30k plus dollars to blow. I really love the look of the Yellow C5 ZO6, however I cannot seem to find any within a decent price range. I have a question

1. Does anyone here have a C5 yellow Z06 for sale for 20k or under, under if higher mileage.

2. I live in illinois and found an 01 regular C5 yellow corvette with heads up display for around 16K. I wanted to know if it would be hard cosmetic wise to make it look like a C5 zo6? I will be changing engine and all that either way I just love the look. Thanks much help is needed

You don't want to spend more than $20K and yet you want to change the engine??? Maybe you should just drop the coin on what you really want or love with a different color. Changing the color will be cheaper than changing the engine.

You shouldn't have any problem finding a z06 for under 20k. I bought mine for 11k. Just keep an eye out

A few facts that you may not be aware of:
The Z06 only comes with a manual transmission.
The Z06 has a unique body style (fixed roof) from all other Vettes of the same vintage.
The Z06 has roughly 50 more HP than a standard Vette. (C-5 Z06s have either 395 or 405 HP)
The Z06 has different suspension components.
C-5 Corvettes in coupe (removable hardtop) and convertibles are easily modified with components from a Z06, but they are not a Z06 and never will be ( the VIN indicates this)

You can get financing through any credit union - Coastal Credit Union, Pentagon Federal, etc. They have no problems financing an older car if you have a decent score.

I got a 1.49% APR for 60 months on my 2003 Yellow Z06 - which I paid $22,800 for earlier this year by the way.

Have you checked the FOR SALE Forum on this site? Also, there are a few dealers in that Chicago area that specialize in Corvettes. Finally, check with some of the local Corvette clubs. Most offer "For Sale" pages on their sites. Try "Windy City Corvettes" or "Fox Valley Corvettes", just to name a couple that come to mind.

Good luck!

Same here. I got my `03 AE vert financed through my wife's school credit union.

They were even willing to finance a `69 427 vert. They said that if it wasn't in KBB, then they wanted to see photos of it so they could research the going rate for them.

As near as I could tell, there was no limit on how old of a car they were willing to finance.

If you have a certain Vette in mind then focus your search for that car and that one only.Don't settle for anything less.A yellow low miles Z06 should be had for the 22-24 price range.Heck trim the wedding guest list since half of them just show up for the food and drinks anyhow. If you can't put your foot down now don't plan on owning any Vette for long, as she will have you trading it in for a mini van in a few years.

Try a local credit union. I financed mine with one and they were easy to deal with and no problems getting the loan from them.
