I'm thinking about expanding the side cargo bins into compartments in the area over the wheel wells. Has anyone done something similar to this, or will I be once again setting sail in uncharted waters?
Unless you specifically were wanting stuff to be sectioned off or enclosed from the main area of the trunk/hatch, I would think it would marginally decrease the available space since you are adding material in. Interesting thought though and I'm curious as to what you come up with.

The idea is to be able to store a fair amount of cargo out to the sides that will still allow the targa to be stowed
I recently joined the Magnolia VFD and am training as an EMR/ECA (one step below an EMT-B) and plan to turn my vehicle into a responder. My goal is to fit a Small fire extinguisher and maybe a water bottle on one side and a small medical bag on the other.

I work for a paid EMS service and couldn't imagine doing anything remotely close to my job on my off days. Or even respond to a call in my personal vehicle, even though having a set of volly lights/sirens on the vette would be sweet.
I hadn't realized until now that you're down in Conroe. I used to be a member of the Dobbin VFD.
Cool

Props to you good sir.
I'm getting that a lot from the VFD crowd. It's something that can get mundane and overwhelming pretty quick. By putting in just a few hours a week, it helps to keep the exciting part alive.
The odds of me responding in my vehicle are slim for at least a few years, but I recently became a dealer for Feniex Industries and outfitting my car make it into a rolling-flashing billboard as well as having utility.
