All the reasons given are valid and I'd like to add one more. The huge jump in build quality and engineering. It was the beginning of the Corvette being a world class sports car for the masses. While corners were cut compared to more expensive European competitors the fact you can buy a used C5 with over a 100k that is still a solid car is a testament to the design and execution of the C5.

I think the C5 was just a well built car, and still looks good after all these years.
Here is my 9.5 yr old Z06 that I purchased new.
I just see no need to get a newer Corvette.

I'm also not impressed with the C7 either. I can't get past the Camaro tail lights.
