Default 18 inch tire suggestions

was looking to change out the stock chrome wheels for a set of jw dish wheels with the 10.5/18 rear and having some difficulty picking out a tire. would like to throw a 315 out back but there really is only one choice in a kumho for an 18 inch rim size.

open to opinions or suggestions. if I have to use a 275, I'll probably just end up keeping the stocks on.

I am running 295/35/18 in the rear and 265/35/18 in the front in Bridgestone Potenza 760 Sport and really like them, It seems that maybe a 315 is just a bit much for a 10 inch wheel.

thanks, I'll check em out. says 275/285/295/305/315 all acceptable on a 10.5 in. they willing to warranty it so I imagine it's not unsafe.

not sure how ocd I'm being but trying to compare overall diameter and revolutions per mile.

front
245/45/17 = 785.33
265/40/17 = 795.7
275/40/17 = 785.93

rear
275/40/18 = 756.45
285/40/18 = 747.62
295/35/18 = 771.84
305/35/18 = 763.78
315/35/18 = 755.9

the 275 front and 315 rear are within 1 rotation per mile.

if I recall my last set were quite a bit off from stock. I'm leaning towards the 265/295 combo as well

I installed 265/18 in front and 305/19 in the rear. My rear wheels are 10.5" wide. It was highly suggested not to go wider then 305 with the 10.5" wheels. Am very happy with the setup. The offset is perfect.

Thanks for all the tips. Been trying to read reviews
Well, I have it narrowed down to 3. Liked the wide tires, but the biggest streetable Tire i can find on a 10.5 18 is the nitto 555r Dr in 305. Not sure I'd want the555r

My top 3 at the moment would be
275/40/17 fr, 295/35/18 bfg kdw all around ( cool tread, longer life very street friendly)
275/40/17 fr nitto 555, 305/35/18 nitto555r
275/40/17 fr nitto 555, 295/35/18 nitto invo

there's a recall on about 30k 14 models with a do not drive request. apparently a clutch disengagement issue. check msnbc.

at least they will come to your house, transport and fix it free of cost.

Well chuckie, I'm your man on this one I guess. I did exactly what you're asking and that was to get some 18x10.5 rims (standard 58mm offset) and mounted some 315/35/18s on em. What did I use? Toyo Proxes TQ street drag radial. Maybe not what you're looking for but it's an awesome tire that hooks up amazingly. You can take a look at it here. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/BigPic...odel=Proxes+TQ
Just like you, my research showed it to be almost exactly the same diameter as my stock 275s, so the stagger wasn't messed up and neither was the speedometer. I've got a few pics up here so you can see what they look like mounted. They have about 5/8" clearance from the inner wheel well and ever so slightly protrude out from the fender, about 1/2" or so. Looks aggressive w/o being dumb looking. You can see them here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...s-of-pics.html
After having them for about 2 weeks now, I'm very impressed with the Toyos. Got the pair from tirecrawler.com for $538 shipped. Good luck. Many tire options for our C5s.

Did a bit more back reading and saw you almost got some Nittos. That's what I had previously, some 555s. I've heard it mentioned that Toyo makes Nittos for what its worth.

been searching around for the best size to go with for a rear for the best bang... 315 seemed too wide for me i was looking more along the line of 305 but choices are so limited but after seeing your picture it didnt look too bad, is your car lowered and does it rub at all?

My car looks to be lowered but if it is, it was done by a previous owner. I've had the 98 for a couple of years and have not lowered it any. There is zero rubbing anywhere. As I stated, I've got about 5/8" clearance from the inner wheel well. I can slip my hand in between the tire and the inner wall. Another user here on CF, Blitzkrieg, is running 345s with some 12" wheels (if I remember correctly). He did remove the inner wheel well liners however, but he did not have to mini-tub the car. Do a search for him and his tire thread. Here's one to get you started. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...e-sizes-2.html
