Got a 2002 convertible, battery keeps going dead, replaced the battery with a new one same problem. Think i have a bad relay have checked and everything in the car appears to be off.
Any suggestions of frequent relays that mess up, which I could check or possible switches that I do not think have been left on?
Any help would be appreciated. Last month of good weather in NJ and want to enjoy the car before I have to put it away for winter.
A few possibilities-
What kind of battery did you get to replace the dead one(s)?
Did you charge up your old and the new replacement battery and get them load tested to see if they were really dead, or do you have a parasitic current draw that is draining them?
Is your charging system working - ie, what battery voltage does your DIC read when the engine is running?
To see if you have a current draw when the car is "off", disconnect the negative battery lead and with a ammeter connected to the negative battery terminal and to the ground lead, see if there is any current flowing. If there is, to find it you may have to pull each fuse one at a time to see which circuit is pulling juice out of the battery.
There are several good threads on here about this. The car has to go into hibernation if not it will kill the battery. The threads explain in detail how to check the amp draw on the car and then isolate the issue.
If all else fails, get in touch with forum member Bill Curlee - he is very knowledgeable on the C5 electronics and can most likely give you some suggested areas to check.
These guys know more than I do but I just resolved the same problem on my 04. My battery, alternator and starter checked out fine. After testing, it was the driver's seat power module.
Same thing happened to me...i just went to the garage one night and in comlete darkeness started pulling fuses...when you put them back in, if one arcs it's pulling juice. Mine ended up being drivers side power seat, replaced the part and have had no issues since!

Hi did you resolve your problem? I am having a similar issue. Just bought a 2000 c5 Corvette Coupe the Sunday before Christmas and the battery keeps dying yet I see the battery is only 4 months old and when AAA came to jump the car I had them check the alternator and it's not the alternator so something is draining the battery. I hope yours is working fine now.

Welcome to the Forum !!…if you’re having a parasitic drain it would be best to start a NEW thread and you can post it in the Tech section and we can give you further guidance….if you have a DVOM and know how to use it your issue can be quickly resolved…doubt AAA has the knowledge to diagnosis this…what did you have them check ???

You've responded to a 10 year old thread, and the response you want is from a post by gilbroyer. He hasnt been on the forum for seven years, so you're not likely to hear from him. Better to start a new thread.....
