Default C5 headlights

I recently swapped my original headlight bulbs for new high intensity bulbs, both regular and brights. When I went to test them I noticed that with the bright lights on, only the bright bulbs are lit. Is this correct or should all four bulbs be lit when the brights are on?

When the brights are on only the two will light up

There's a Hi-4 harness sold that keeps the low beams on when you go to high beams. Really helps.

The factory setting is for the lows to be off when you turn the high beams on. I have the harness (see above) from JWMotoring that lets all four be on at the same time. There's a separate Forum thread about this. I changed my lights as well and the increased light output from the better bulbs when all four are on at once is a real plus. It's $25 well spent and the installation is easy.

With HID lows I've never needed high beams. Wonder if they still work?
