That is one of the problems when your gear goes bad. Replace the gear and everything will work as normal. Your parking lights will work properly again. Trust me.

Thanks for the info guys, same exact thing just happened on my 2002. I knew it was time for brass gears but was afraid I'd fried the headlight (MFS) switch due to the extra current when that driver's light closed.
