Soak the key down with WD-40, and get some needle nose vice grips, then it's all about persistence, you have to work it (wiggle) and apply force pulling at the same time, it will come out and you should not need to destroy anything. It may seem like it's never going to come out and then it will.

large flat blade screwdrivers can get under the ridge in the key and raise it. Works much better than using a vise grip at the start .

When I had a six speed car, I just clamped a vice grip on the key then tapped up gently on the side of the vice grip. Key popped right out.
