Well, it's been a few weeks driving with the fuel gauge not working. I must have missed something during the fuel pump upgrade. Anyway I knew the internal fuel line needed to be repositioned and the sending unit repaired.
The fuel line had to be fixed so I could get full 60psi at WOT which in turn enabled the car to produce more HP on the top end. DONE!!!!
Then I needed to figure out what went wrong during the pump upgrade to cause the sending unit to not register what the fuel level was. I found the culprit! Apparently during assembly the float contacts became bent out of shape and didn't make appropriate contact on the sending units resistors.....anyway after bending them back and assembly it's reading perfectly!
What tank is the sending unit in. I have been hesitating on tackeling this project on my friends 02 convertible. The fuel guage will work sometimes but most of the time not.
Can one tank be dropped out without dropping the other?

I didn't drop the tank(drivers side) just pulled the rear wheel, unbolted the pan and dropped it enough to let the fuel pump clear it.
Here's the problem....the float has a small white plastic piece that also has the small metal clip with two tiny little brushes that make the contact and complete the electrical circuit. Over the years of moving constantly over and over thousands of cycles they do wear. Mine became so thin they actually just literally fell off. Being the DIY guy....I simply soldered some silver solder on the little thin wires left to make them a little thicker and stronger(not much) and it worked!
