I just bought a '01 C5 and it came with no paperwork except for the owners manual. I remember a decade ago when I had a C3 there was a website where you could send them your VIN and they would send you the build sheet, window sticker copy and other info. Also is there a GM site where you can get all the dealer service information they have on file for the car?
The dealer can get you a copy of the GMVIS for your VIN. Some want to charge you for that. If yours does then send an Email to either of the two individuals listed below and include your VIN. Either will email you back the GMVIS for your car. Both are Forum supporting vendors:
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
I would love to have the window sticker.
It amazes me how some people throw away all the documentation. There was a nice little leather owners manual folder that should have come with it. That was gone.
Leather case is available on Ebay. I bought a second set of documentation for my car many years ago from Ebay. I refer to the owners manual often and the spare I bought is now well worn but the one that came with the car is still like brand new.
Thanks. I already have a bid on the leather case. I was thinking about getting a spare manual too. The one that came with it does show some wear. I will continue to check ebay for good deals.
I wonder how much of that stuff is stolen out of parked cars and then put on ebay. Perhaps that's what happened to mine.
Dealers are not beyond removing this stuff and selling it. Easy sale to Vette Owner who most often want this type of documentation........
I believe it.
A decade ago I found the build sheet for my 80 on top of the gas tank after learning that sometimes they were left there. The plant didn't hide C5 build sheets someplace on the car, did they?
I ran my '02 data thru that website and the prices don't match the original window sticker (off by nearly $1000 ), the finished sticker is missing a lot of "boilerplate" text and there are no references to GM copyright or even Federal information. So it looks nice but it's not a "replica". Just a fair copy.
One thing about the Build Sheed and Window Sticker from the NCM is that if you join the NCM first, the docs prices you pay are the "Member" prices. And the annual membership fee is 100% tax deductible as a charitable contribution.

What do expect for free? Knowing what my car cost new within a thousand bucks is just fine with me. The NCM documents are overpriced and just replicas anyway.
