I am hoping to rejoin the vette family. I use to have a 2000 FRC corvette but was hit by a drunker driver a few years back on the highway and totaled my corvette and almost me.
I havent found many in my area that seem to be a good deal. I have found a 2000 corvette convertible with 27k. The seller is asking 20k. Upon looking at the vehicle he stated he got it from his grandfather who had passed away but is selling it to fix up his house. Seller mentioned that when he had it looked at the dealer stated the EBCM needs to be replaced and a leak in the AC somewhere. Body has some scratched that i can get fixed easily.
I was wondering what the cost would be for these repairs and if I can even find a EBCM or have to go with an aftermarket brand somewhere. I would love your opinion and the cost for repairs from experience as well as what you believe would be a good asking price either with him fixing the issues or with me purchasing the vehicle and fixing myself.
Thanks again and hopefully I will be joining the family once again.
I would think $18k-$19k with not needing any repairs or work and under 40k miles.
I always think it is better having the seller fix everything at their cost and then work from there on the asking price.
I just bought my 2001 vert that needed a a/c compressor due to a pin hole leak. The dealer gave me $1200.00 off our agreed price for me to fix it minus the $270 that Chevrolet charged them to determine that it had a ac leak. We already knew that so my credit for the repair was just $930. They didn't have a compressor in stock and had to order it. Since I was attempting to purchase the car from out of town I could not stay a week in a hotel due to cost.
I had the compressor replaced by my Chevy dealer back home and it cost $1300.00!!
Are you aware that the EBCM replacement is expensive? Are you aware you can't find a new one? It has to be replaced with a unit from a wreck. If I were you, I'd find out the cost of that repair from a reliable shop. Then I'd deduct that from the price, then deduct another $1K because you don't know what else they haven't repaired. That's the offer I'd make.
Oh, one more thing, you can't use a EBCM from a 01-04, they're not the same.
good to know thank you.. yea i called an auto parts store that was recommended by dealers and shops in the area and said it was around $2000.. I decided to not go with it due to the cost of the repairs and the possible unknowns.. I will continue to look.
