Default Paint advice

I just bought my black '01 Z. As expected there are some scratches, scuffs and faded spots. I can get everything repaired as in respect what needs it and fill and buff out the small spots as well as buffing the entire car for about $1000. Or get the whole thing repainted for about $3500. It's my daily driver so I'm leaning towards the $1000 since it'll just get more chips along the way from rocks and such, but is like to see if anyone has any advice that could help me make my final decision. Thanks

seems reasonable, since I got quoted $600 just to fill paint and blend one small chip on door. I left when I could stop laughing enough to drive off!

most scratches and pretty much all scuffs and faded spots should buff out i wouldnt get it painted unless there is alot of deep stuff on the car. rule of thumb is if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail it most likely will not buff out but you can still sand alot of that scratch with 1200 then 3000 then buff it to shine out where it isnt as noticable and lover rock chips i would just fill them in

Not hard to believe , I just bought a Ram Air hood and bought enough paint and materials including primer and catalyst , some black base, and red for the hood insert , and clear , and the materials alone were $450. And there would be labor on top of that if you are paying someone.

Having a black car right off the bat and being your daily driver, I would definitely go the cheaper route. If your a perfectionist though seeing that fine layer of dust everyday you don't wash it might be hard to live with. Good luck on whatever decision you make, it's your 'Vette enjoy it the way you want to.

If you're going to use it as a DD, then go the cheaper route as long as the shop will do a good job.

There are these freelancers who go to used car lots to touch up cars prior to sales for the dealers. Many are very skilled at the type of work you need. Just ask some dealers who does their work at their lots.

I had a clear coat peeling spot on the front bumper done for $85 cash money. The guy was good !! Can't see where he did the re- clear work.

That day, he was working at the local Ford dealer lot. I took it over while he was there, and he had it done in 45 minutes. I saw his work touching up a pitted and scratched red Escalade, and it looked great. He did my neighbor's new Ford Edge which had two long scratches on the door for $75, and try as I might, I cannot see any evidence that it was ever scratched. He also does dent and door ding removal on metal bodied cars. I am a fan !!

Well I shopped around a bit and with a good reference got a pretty good deal. It'll be about $3000 for a full pint job, staying black of course. Front windshield and rear window removed and put back in with new seals and re-sealed. I chose the showcar clearcoat as well. From the original price it came down about $1000 bc of who sent me there. I plan on dropping it off next week. I will let everyone know how it comes out and since ill want to show it off, there WILL be pictures. Thanks for all of the advice!!

Add it up , the pint of Viper red alone in PPG base is $104. Quality paint does not come cheap and reds are always more and these prices also included primers and catalyst..

red doesn't count. that's always been the most ridiculous priced color ever

it's literally 2x the cost of most others, especially cheap colors like white and silver
