Twelve disc CD changer on 2001 won't eject the cartridge disc box but will make a cycling noise when the lid is slid over to open it. I once read on this Forum about sliding a piece of thin plastic down the sides or bottom of the cartridge to make it eject but now I can't find the post. Can anyone give me some specifics about something to try to eject the cartridge? Changer has always worked fine previously. Thanks, Dave
If you look closely somewhere on the top of the unit, there is a little indentation in which you can stick a paperclip to make the unit recycle. I gave up on the cd changer long ago and put in a cable to use your ipod and still control it through the buttons on the radio.
I had the same problem. It most likely has one of the trays stuck half way out inside the player. You need to take it out of the car and take it to a workbench or table. Take the case off of the unit and inspect it. You will be able to see once you get the case off just what the problem is. If yours is like mine you will find one of the trays that hold the CDs about halfway out. Slide them all back into the cassette (carefully) and then plug it back into the car with the case still off. You should then be able to eject the cassette from the unit, clean everything up and put it back together. I have heard this is a pretty common issue with these units and someone on here told me about it. Best of luck.

This is so common, just stick a little screw driver in there to make it "wake up" or what have you...
Changer is fixed. Had to take off the complete cover and pry the cartridge carrier loose as it was jammed in the rearward position. Not sure why or what happened because no discs were out of place but it works fine now. Thanks for all the replies. Dave
Mine's stuck, I will try this tonight. I just found out I had a changer. I just got my car 2 days ago, bought it at night, last minute at closing and hadn't gone through what all it had.
I just found a nice dual din and install kit for cheap. Won't be able to do it before the road trip tonight, but a full stereo is in short order. This car is too bad *** for an awful Bose system.
<edit> While looking through the glove box, stuffed into the owners guide was the original window sticker, the manual for the cd changer, the documents for the Borla exhaust, and the Corvette note pad is still in there. Corvette owners are an interesting bunch. There are few better used cars than a Vette.
