Default Oil pressure

What is too high for oil pressure? My 2001 had a cam installed before I bought it. It runs great, but the oil pressure gage pins at 80 and when I scroll through the gages button it reads my oil pressure as 130. I had the oil changed right after I bought it. Anyone have any ideas what could be the cause?

Read post #10 #59 and #73 among about a hundred others if you search oil pressure too high.

What they all said. Read the sticky above. All the info is there with debates on the 3 ways to install it yourself

Lots of info on replacement of the sensor here on the forum. If you can't find specific repair info and want to do it yourself, I have some files that might help you out. Just PM me if you would like a copy.

Take it from someone who learned the hard way.

Pull the intake to replace the sending unit, and make sure you get the brass version. O'Reilly sells them (as do some other parts stores) and those that they sell come with a lifetime warranty.

Mine only came with a 1 year warranty but we're years past that. I'm happy with my advanced discount brass sender.

You can remove the intake manifold.

You can cut a hole under the cowl.

You can replace it without cutting a hole or removing the intake manifold:

The third choice is how I ended up with a broken PCV hose and a vacuum leak.

There is a 4th way. It costs more so it's pretty unpopular.

Do NOT use Teflon tape, or anything else, on the OPS threads. It relies on a crush washer for sealing.

What is the part number for the brass sensor you bought?
