I imported a '03 C5Z last week to Canada and when I went to get the certification it's missing the compliance sticker on the drivers door jam. Does anyone know how to get this from GM?
Dealership here says GM told them we have to contact the area where it was built but that doesn't make any sense to me.

Not sure if this is the label you are looking for, but worth a shot:
• Source for reproduction door stickers: ECS Automotive Concepts reproduction VIN labels for 1970 and newer Corvettes look just like the authentic factory decals GM affixed to classic Corvettes’ driver-side doors when they were new. Each one includes VIN, vehicle date of manufacture, and (for some model years) vehicle-weight ratings. ECS is the only manufacturer licensed by GM to reproduce these factory labels. www.ecsautomotive.com (1970-1980 model years) and www.ecsvin.com (1981-2012 model years).
better take a real close look at your vette, this may be the tip-off that it has been in a very serious accident. this is one sticker they usually leave off after a repaint.
So I called GM HQ in Canada and they're sending a letter ($200 later) today to help with this.
Agreed re: accident. There's zero information on carfax or brand though so I don't care that much. It's a track car for me and I went into it knowing it wasn't 100% shape.
Did everything work out ok. I just went through this with a snowmobile. I had to jump through hoops to get a properly worded letter from Yamaha.
I'm looking at a Vette now that's been painted. Just waiting to hear back if the stickers are still present.
Yup everything worked out very efficiently but it was about $200 from GM for the letter.
I got lucky at the border and they didn't check for it - just asked for the dates and I said it was painted over. They let me go through knowing I would have to get it for the safety anyways.
I would definitely ask for a picture of it before going to pick one up in the US an if it doesn't have one get the letter before going to pick it up.
