Gotta be careful, though, as that "nut" on the bottom of the filter hangs down pretty low....
I actually looked at it from all angles because I thought there would be an issue and my LG Streets surround it on the sides and the bottom of the collectors are lower than the nut. But I'm not lowered at all.

I've heard this complaint/ concern before and I promise you if the nut portion of the oil filter hits anything, you'll be bottomed out with your exhaust and frame scraping before the oil filter hits anything ! I use Mobil-1 oil filters now, but I have used K&N oil filters before and never had any trouble at all.

I don't use them any more, made in Mexico and not up to quality any more. They use to be made in Riverside,Ca.
I just changed my oil on my '99 yesterday - and I used a K&N that I had bought last month for it. I bought it for the nut on the bottom. After I put it in - i also looked at mine from all angles (stock exhaust) and it does sure seem to me like that nut it the lowest hanging piece under the car. I don't think it'll be a problem, but - from looking at it -it sure does seem to be the low point on a stocker.

Haven't tried the K&N filters yet, but I have one sitting in my garage that I plan on putting on the car when I change oil just before putting it in storage for the winter. Will be able to report back on how it does sometime next year. Have been using AC Delco PF 46s with no problems.

This is my opinon only, I would never use a K&N oil filter on a C5 for the simple reason the nut on it will be the lowers point under the car and is asking for trouble, There was a post a few months ago where a member went to change his oil and found that the nut was dingged really bad, Those with a K&N filter look under your car and you will see what I am talking about.

I wouldn't want to risk it. Besides, that's what filter wrenches are for.

That K&N filter doesn't have the nut on it I don't think.
K&N makes one with a nut and one without. I have used both. Both have been fine. If you get to the point you hit the nut on the K&N, you have/will have far more things to be concerned about.
I first tried one when oreilly was having a special. Buy 5 quarts of Mobil 1 and you got a free K&N oil filter. That one had the nut and it never gave me any issues. I then ordered one from K&N and it didn't have the nut.
