Why are so many people referring to the Z06-style wheels as "Speedlines"? Speedline is the manufacturer, not the wheel-style... right? My thinspokes are "Speedlines" (see Post #3).

Fair question/comment - I guess I am guilty
I use the term to distinguish their C5 Z06 wheels from the Alcoa C5 Z06 wheels, which are slightly different in design and very different in construction.
Many arguments rage about which ones are better.
My .02 - both met/exceeded GM's stringent design specs, so either are a great choice. There are a ton of great looking aftermarket wheels out there also, but I am always a bit suspicious of quality control and the engineering specs these wheels were disigned to meet.
I can't actually compare since I don't have any experience with the Z06 wheels. However, I feel that the thinspokes show off your brake calipers and rotors better than the Z06's; or any other wheel for that matter. The only reason I would switch out my thinspokes would be if I went to larger brakes.

I never realiZed that there were two diff manufacturers for the z06 I guess that I have the speedlines, this is good to know lol
What about the thin spokes - is there more than one version? Are the painted think spokes a different wheel, in design and/or manufacturer, than the polished? I thought I've read about differences in the width of the spoke and the sharpness of the contour as the spoke hits the rim.

Yes the early Thinspokes had less-radiused curvature on the spoke transitions (sharper corners). I know my 2001 came with the 2nd design with the radiused edges (like shown in post #3). I am "guessing" they were changed to help reduce the "cracking" problem at the high stress points some were experiencing?
They had polished, unpolished and painted, but no chrome from the factory. Had mine chromed first week I had it 13 years ago.
The Alcoa versions were forged and the Speedlines were cast. All the Alcoas I have seen were the original design.

Like this?
Unlike the others in this thread, mine have "Corvette" engraved into one of the spokes. Is this normal?
