I do detect the smell of rice here on occasion, but Phanni, maybe we can bring these people back into the fold. Lets feed them some good old american muscle. Fart cans no longer required!!! Give them BEEF!!!

if you're just now seeing it i would take a stab that it's because you're just now looking
the only thing i have noticed is there are more beater c5s on the road as more and more cross the 200k mile mark, get left outside all year and maintainence gets neglected
as for prices, the ones i see being most at risk are the c6 z06s and z6 grand sports. it's usually hard to sell an old model at 80-90% of the new one. the zr1 may hold to some degree just because of what it is but how many of you would drop 50k on a c6 when a new c7 is 60?
c6's in general seem high to me right now as the 05s with 80-100k miles should be selling around 19k maybe 20k and guys are still gunning for 23 and the like. the 05-07 cars should be high teen, low 20 cars and it hasn't happened yet. again, who would spend 26-28k on an 07 when a frigin grand sport is 35?
i'm not sure if it's the summer effect or what but late c5s and c6s went up a slight amount at auction when the c7 was shown...no idea on that one
Not sure where you're seeing a GS go for $35, but I'd like to know. As for the majority of C6's with a manual and decent miles they are still going for $25 to $27 with some of the 08's adjusted between $27 and low $30's depending on miles. The only C6's I've seen in the $19 to $23 range are ones with extremely high miles or rebuilt titles.
As an Asian guy, I have to say that the terminology "rice" has nothing to do with Asians or the food.
It stands for "Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements" with emphasis on the word "Cosmetic."
It has somehow been mistakenly associated with Asians and type of food since the majority of the ethnicity doing these heinous things to their cars happened to be conglomerating around west coast area where there are a lot of Asian Americans, and the cars they happened to be doing these heinous things to happened to be Hondas and Toyotas.
So yes, ANY car, regardless of make/model can be considered rice. If you take a base C5 and install Z06 405HP badge on a Base Corvette when you really don't have a 405hp engine, it will be considered RICE.

agree on the low mileage couples. i haven't seen any low miler cars under 25k either. the coupes are imo overpriced if you figure a 10k mile 2008 car will sell 31-32k and a 2010 grand sport with the same mileage will sell for 40k.
like this one from a dealer on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Corvette-Grand-Sport-3LT-WE-FINANCE-2010-chevy-corvette-grand-sport-13-k-miles-navigation-/321228883772?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4acabbc73c&vxp=mtr#ht_5580wt_1165
the 35k grand sports i'm talking about are 2010s around 40k miles. some of the daily driver types that go up for sale only pull mid 30s

Say what you want, but I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary year end drop for C5s. Kind of surprised we're not seeing much of a drop. BUT, if you're referring to C6, it looks like something big is going to change. While the asking prices on 05's to 07's doesn't seem to have moved much, 08's and 09's are taking a big drop. That will put pressure on the 05 to 07 prices and then the C5 might see some effect....... or maybe not.
In theory that should happen but I think the actual effect will be minimal.
All this reminds me of the debate in congress about the national debt for some odd reason; too much, too little, where to we make the cut, how much can we save if we do this or that. I think I'll just watch the forum and when the C6 guys starts selling their cars en masse it'll be time to make THE MOVE!!
I'm still waiting for that magic number on a c6 so that I don't take to much of a blow when I trade in my c5
if you cash out now i could see that strategy but keeping the c5 means it goes down along with the c6. granded the c6 will probably fall more dollar wise over the next 5 years
