Rice has always been a staple in many peoples diets.
With the falling prices of C-5s,,,It seems rice is now becoming a staple of the posters here on the forum.
Say what you want, but I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary year end drop for C5s. Kind of surprised we're not seeing much of a drop. BUT, if you're referring to C6, it looks like something big is going to change. While the asking prices on 05's to 07's doesn't seem to have moved much, 08's and 09's are taking a big drop. That will put pressure on the 05 to 07 prices and then the C5 might see some effect....... or maybe not.

There will be a price compression effect: the newer model years will fall faster (percentage-wise) than the older ones.
there have always been ricers in the corvette community as long as i can remember {which is roughly 1998}
greenwood kits on the c4's, big gaudy wings. c6 rear bumpers on a c5, fixed headlights on a c5, big fuzzy loud interiors.
if you're just now seeing it i would take a stab that it's because you're just now looking
the only thing i have noticed is there are more beater c5s on the road as more and more cross the 200k mile mark, get left outside all year and maintainence gets neglected
as for prices, the ones i see being most at risk are the c6 z06s and z6 grand sports. it's usually hard to sell an old model at 80-90% of the new one. the zr1 may hold to some degree just because of what it is but how many of you would drop 50k on a c6 when a new c7 is 60?
c6's in general seem high to me right now as the 05s with 80-100k miles should be selling around 19k maybe 20k and guys are still gunning for 23 and the like. the 05-07 cars should be high teen, low 20 cars and it hasn't happened yet. again, who would spend 26-28k on an 07 when a frigin grand sport is 35?
i'm not sure if it's the summer effect or what but late c5s and c6s went up a slight amount at auction when the c7 was shown...no idea on that one

Could be just the excitement of the C7/Corvette debut. People get excited of the C7 - Corvette in general - but can only afford (or willing to spend) a C5/6.

that's a very good point actually. hadn't considered that angle until just now

I do and always have had a distaste for the look of the airbrake headlamps
I agree on all other points, with one caveat:
For those who use their cars at high-speed events, an adjustable wing is much more than an appearance item. Mods that provide a detectable performance result are hardly rice.
Resale is only important to people Selling, or Buying.
I'm doing neither... .
Toque
I completely agree with you. I bought my '03 Z06 new. I loved it then, I still do now 10 years later, it isn't going anywhere in the foreseeable future. I don't care what it is worth at this time.

the lights are straight
as for wings and high speed events. cars that actually get into downforce normally have spring rates so high they are never driven on the street again or if they are it's rare. that's a different duck. since the c5 was introduced i have met one, uno, 1, person who has done this and it was a dedicated track car with a lot of money in it...that was a cool car. the rest of the time it's been some gaudy fast and the furious knock off.
