Ed, Somethings going on with vette. Yesterday after I changed the plugs and wires, the car ran good. Today, the engine wants to stall. Do I have a screwed up wire or used the wrong plugs?
I'd check the wires to see if any of the plug wires are arcing, and if no visible arcing I'd check to make sure all of the plug wire connections are tight between the plugs and ignition coils. If that fails you could check each of the plugs to see if any are fouled. Also make sure that you did not break or knock any vacuum lines loose and that all of the electrical connections are tight.
Did you use the Dielectric grease on both connections? Also, reclick all of the wires...
Yep,,I had MSD's and had that happen.THOUGHT I had them on good and was driving home from my first time out and it started running like crap..one or two of them came loose.Got them all secured properly and she ran GREAT!!!
I just changed my plugs yesterday on my C5 only took an hour in a half to do it and it recommends that the heat shields must be installed to prevent static and moister to plugs .

Apparently that happens a lot with MSD. I got yelled at a lot once here for relating my experience with them but yeah pretty much the same thing. They looked and felt like they clicked on but not so much. That is why the electrical gurus here recommend the GM wires. Cheaper than MSD, positive clicks when installed and just plain works. No wire is going to increase performance so why go with something where there is room for error?
Yes I used dielectric grease. I went with recommendations from fellow members and installed AC Delco plugs 41-110(iridiums). When I checked online for AC Delco plugs for my 2000 vette, all that came up was 41-962(platinum). Did I use the wrong plugs? I did send an em to AC Delco tech support asking them what plugs that I need. It might take several days for them to respond if they do at all. Special thanks to all Senior members that took the time to respond.
The plugs are ok. Have you checked your plug wires yet to make sure they're all seated fully to both plug and coil?
I only did a basic check of wires. I've been waiting for AC Delco to respond first. Since you said that the 41-110s are okay, I'll tackle the wires and heat shields on Sunday. Thanks again.
You can bet the bean counters at GM wouldn't pay for having the heat shields unless there was a very good reason to have them.
Jack,
Do the heat shields get installed first before pushing on wire? I tried reworking the wires and just sled the shields onto the boot, then pushed the boot onto the plug, but the shields are not snug.

yes install plug on engine then clean shield and spark plug wire and then slide shield into wire boot and install on plug make sure plug wire clicks so you know its on right or else you will have a miss fire.
I destroyed the heat shields getting my original wires off the plugs (I swear they were glued on with rubber cement) I replaced the stock wires with Magnecors without heat shields; no static no problems. I changed plugs recently and the wires are still in great shape.

Same here. I haven't run plug shields in years. No ill affects.
