c5 Corvette for second car?
Ive had a miata (set up for autocross) for the past year and in a few months will be looking for something with more power and looks. Thinking c5 z06 because the c5 is generally a cheap car. Anybody want to talk me into one? Or out of one?

If you are replacing the Miata with a Corvette you might want to look at C4's. Much cheaper than C5's - lots of guys using them for autocross. If the Corvette will be the second car to the Miata then definitely go C5Z! The only thing you might want to keep in mind is that now you will have 2 two-seater cars. A back seat comes in handy sometimes for friends/family.

No reason at all to try and talk you out of a C5. They make both a great daily driver and if desired, just a second vehicle for those weekend events.

It wasn't at all clear whether the OP intended the C5 to replace the Miata as a daily driver (in which case he can get really crazy with Miata autocross mods) or replace the Miata as an autocross car (in which case there's really no point in owning both).The Miata is probably a better base for a full-on 'cross car, but I'm not sure I'd want to live with one set up that way on a daily basis. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I'd want to live with a C5 set up that way either.

I went from looking at a few C5's to now looking at a pair of low mile Z06's. It is a lot of car for the money. I used to smoke my neighbor's SCCA Miata on the street in my C4 (he could kill me in auto-x, though).

My C5
was bought as a Sunday driver and is my 7th Vette and my favorite. Love the roadster! All have been second cars and real pampered.
My C5 has plenty of power, gets good mileage , rides nice and gets a lot of attention. Far superior to my '93 C4

My C5 (non-ZO6) has alternated from daily driver, autocrosser, primary car and now pleasure car. On any given day can revert to any of the previous modes. Still get lots of compliments for my 13 year old Torch Red coupe. Primary DD now is a 2012 Buick Regal GS which my old bones appreciate on my daily commute.
