Ive had a miata (set up for autocross) for the past year and in a few months will be looking for something with more power and looks. Thinking c5 z06 because the c5 is generally a cheap car. Anybody want to talk me into one? Or out of one?
I've had my C5 for over 12 years, now and my MX5 PRHT for 5 months or so. They are obviously two very different vehicles. The Mazda is the most fun car I have ever driven. How could a 2500 lb car with lightning-quick steering and its top down not be? My C5 would be a lot more fun than it is if it had better seats and better-connected steering. It IS comfortable and fast with far more amenities than the MX5 has. It is certainly nice to have both cars, simply because they are so different.

It comes down to the difference between a sports car and a GT car: a sports car will be biased very heavily toward "fun-to-drive", while a GT will be a better all-around car with fewer livability issues. The Corvette started out as a sports car and began moving to the GT side when the C2 came out 50 years ago. That's a good thing, IMHO.
Well, that depends upon your driving environment. Someone who lives in Montana will appreciate a GT car more than a light, fun-to-drive car. However, those who live in large cities can't easily "stretch their car's legs" without drawing undue attention by exceeding all posted speed limits. It's kinda like having a Japanese zero and an SR71 Blackbird. Which one would you take to work if your flight path is full of curves and is distance limited? Because the vehicles are so different and each does better under certain circumstances, it's great to have both.
