Everybody probably knows this but me, but just in case.
Very short versions of a long story - I need two 245/45 R17 Firehawk Wide oval Indy 500 tires for my 98 coupe. Tire Rack price is $106.00. Called the Firestone store I have done business with for the last ten years or more - "I need two Firehawk yada yada, Tire Rack price is $106, how close can you come?" Firestone guy - computer shows $122.00, we can drop that 25% to meet competitive price. $90.15 each." Here's the interesting part - this is lower cost than the Kumhos I put on it five years ago.
Give thought to checking with local stores about tire prices before you order from Tire Rack or another Internet store. You may like the result and it keeps the money local.
I believe I am getting the Firehawks this spring. I plan on using Tire Rack prices to put the pressure on local dealers. It worked when I bought tires for my C3 a few years ago. They matched their prices.

I bought Hankooks instead of Firestone, but I went online and got a quote then took that quote to a local shop and they price matched. Saved about $40/tire doing that.
