Default BFG blows.

So, I'm needing new KDW 2's 335/30/18's and BFG shows they are backordered. Contacted BFG and asked when they will ship and was told not on schedule for production at all, and no indication of when. Now I know there are other brands that are out there with horrible tread life and twice the price. BUT I LOVE BFG's KDW 2's.

Anyway, looks like I will have to settle on BFG's Drag Radials 345/30/18's with shorter treadlife and no wet road driving.

Maybe in the next few months BFG will eventually produce the tires I want.

Doesn't out dated date codes bother you?

I usually worry more about the date code than tire wear, but I only autocross about twice a year.

Not sure how date codes entered this thread...but no I'm not worried about date codes, since tires don't last but one year on my car. It's an annual thing I have to do.

My tires usually last several (4-5) years. Since you replace yearly (WHY?) it shouldn't matter.

kdw2 is a POS tire, i really hated that tire when i tested it. has good steering response and feels like it will carry speed in a corner...then....it doesn't, it just breaks. don't you have a high hp car? something like the ad08, re11, or even better the r888 would be the way i would go. the ad08 specifically is a pretty solid rain performer and holds up to 200deg temps if you beat on them.

how hard would it be to get some rear 19x12s and run 325 30 19? you have the re11 and michelin super sport in that size. the pss can't take as much heat as some of the others but it is an incredible pure street tire. it rails in the rain, has great treadwear and is extremely predictable in corners, very easy tire to drive at the limit. any of those would slap the snot out of a kdw2

Thanks for the detailed info...appreciate it a bunch. I'll look into a better set-up this spring for sure, especially the rain portion!

Yea, it's not a good thing cause I could count on the KDW's breaking loose before I might break something else loose....kinda like a safety feature.

If these hook up easier....I need to relearn my launch.

may workout pretty well actually. if you have the bfg drags on the way for 18" reas, keep those for the track as they use a higher heat compound and the bite really goes up if you get them hot

then

get 19x12's for street tires and use the pss or re11 for street duty

oh he would kill those with the amount of power that car makes. a stock z06 will overwhelm that tire if you run it hard.

i have a set of those in my spare bedroom and they are an alright cruiser tire. really plush ride, steering response is slow but my god they are a scary tire to drive hard. very very little feedback of what's going on when you get near or at the limit in a corner. straight line traction is also maybe 50% of the michelin pss which isn't even that hardcore of a tire

I don't know what's going on with them. It took 11 days for me to get a full set a couple months ago.

Just went through the same thing. Tire Rack first quoted estimated delivery mid to late December, then follow up with no production scheduled. Sounds like they're being discontinued.
