Just got my C5 vert and was checking out the trunk area. I noticed the interior trunk lights do not come on when the lid is up. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Figured they should light up when parked and I open the trunk.
Can't imagine that you are doing anything wrong - more than one should come on when the trunk goes up. So, no help here other than confirming what you know
The lights come on when you open the door? Also when you unlock?
When using my keyfob, the trunk lights turn on with the rest of the interior lights as well as the map lights when I unlock the car and/or open the doors. This happens even when the trunk is closed as you can see the lights by peaking through behind the seats.
If your trunk lights are not working, check the fuse and then check the individual bulbs.

Okay...I'll try it..she's in my man cave with me now. Thank you!

Hi, yes all the other lights come on when unlocking. Going to check a couple things mentioned on the second responder. Maybe both bulbs are out....ill know shortly.
Well, with it parked in the garage, I opened the trunk and wallah!... Lights are on!
When I opened the trunk out in daylight, they didn't work...so I guess there is a light sensor controlling them?
Opened the trunk several times, each time they lit up.
I swapped out my interior bulbs to LED a couple of years ago so they are brighter than the OEM halogen bulbs they replaced. The halogen bulbs are so dim that perhaps you can't see them on in the daylight. I don't think there is a sensor for the trunk bulbs.
The lights do time out after you close the doors and lock the car. The interior lights/trunk lights go out first and then the lights behind the HVAC/Radio and door switched go out shortly thereafter.

Yes, I saw some of the LED replacements on one of the sites. I'll definitely be changing them. The site that had them even offered them in several colors. LED blue would look good with mine!

The LED's are great. I put some in the footwells too.

Here's what my owner's manual says about the courtesy lights:
Courtesy Lamps
When any door or the hatchhrunk lid is opened, the
interior lamps will go on (unless it’s bright outside).
You can also turn on the courtesy lamps by turning the
instrument panel brightness **** all the way clockwise.

Oh thanks! So there must be an outside light sensor for daylight.
That totally explains why they wouldn't come on in daylight.
They are working great tonight.
