Default introduction / questions

What's up everyone! My name is Hunter and I just wanted to get on here and introduce myself. I'm currently trying to sell my car, after which I will be buying my first corvette! I'm super excited to own a vette and just thought I needed some more vette friends.

Also I'm looking for a little advice. When I'm buying my first c5, as far as the year goes, does it matter what I get? I know with all cars some years are just better than others. Also, what should I expect as far as repairs and repair prices?

Well it's awesome to get out here and browse around. Can't wait to see what you all have to say!

Depends what generation you want...I usually go for the last run of the generation so most of the "bugs" have been solved...also depends how much you have to spend on a vehicle...there are so many variables that your question is difficult to answer...if you don't know much about Corvettes I would suggest doing a lot of research...read over the posts in each generation section...it will take some serious time and reading... and then flip a coin all Vettes are great in my opinion(I have owned most all)and I still don't know which I like or liked best...about repairs and repair prices>>>I hope you have saved lots of sheckles...you will surely need them...if you can afford the Vette then you should be able to afford the repairs...but then again, a Corvette is worth whatever it costs to fix it, and you can do a lot of the repair work yourself...for me there is nothing like a Corvette...going on 37 years of Corvette ownership and it never gets old...Good luck to ya fella

I appreciate the reply! I know I want a c5 and I've been wanting one that's a 2000 or above. I was just wondering if there was a year I should stay away from or a year I should shoot for.

I've been researching but it's always nice to hear from real vette enthusiasts.

I'll work on the profile. I just made it :p well thanks!

I won't get into the model year debate, you'll hear plenty about that. But Corvette's are similar to real estate. Real estate - Location, location, location. Corvette - Condition, condition, condition.

Try to find an 01 or newer. On the older ones some of the replacement parts are no longer available.(ebcm, swps and a few others) Also the 01's had the most improvements made to them. I have an 04 and love it.

You can't go wrong with any of the years, With that said the 2001 and newer have all the upgrades. A 2000 and older have some Traction Control parts that you can't get if needed.

This thread contains some very good information on the C5, including a buyer's checklist. It should help you narrow down what you may want and what to look for.

Try one of the things I did when first joining the forum; top left of the page click on Forums and under each you can study anything ever written about each generation of Vettes. If it isn't there then the members will have the answer. Good luck and enjoy reading.

where do you live? I love my '02 Z06!! I have 90,000 miles on it very few repairs. It is my DD. As I tell people, drive a Vette and you are "hooked". I prefer the Z06 over the base, but I like power and handling. Test drive a few. Join a club!!! The members of the clubs we belong to are a great help and we have regular "tech days"

I live in Oklahoma and really don't know anyone around here that's into Vettes. I'd love to meet some people though! And everyone loves power and handling
probably on my next days off of work I'm going to go hunt down a test drive for myself and seal the deal haha.

Alright I will do that. I haven't gotten to look at all of the different forums or anything very much because of how busy I've been lately but I'll check it out tonight.
