Default C6 to C5

I'm really contemplating on selling my 07 BLK/BLK C6 A6 for a C5 M6. This is something i've been thinking about a lot lately. For some reason, I dig the more round look of the C5 over the C6 and they can be had for a hell of a lot cheaper. Can someone provide me with some insight, like i'm crazy or something? I dunno, a 01' C5 for 14-15k w/ mild mods seems like a good time. Thanks for the help.

I have 1 of each. I would have said go for it when I first got my C6. I was some what disappointed with it. The C5 is just more raw and feels more like a sports car should. I knew I would feel that way when I bought it from test driving them. Mine are stock except the C5 has an exhaust system that was there when I got it. I went C6 because I was trading a Sky and hated the manual top. A power top was a requirement for me. So was a Vert. The C6 has the standard rear gears and the C5 has the lower performance ratio. That makes it so the C6 dose not feel that much faster although it is. Now after having the C6 for about a year I now like them about the same for different reasons. I have reached a point where I hate having to use a clicker or key and that's everything else I own. The C6 is just a nicer car inside. The C5 still feels more like a sports car should. I will always like the looks of a C5 better. Another thing about the C5 is my SO is not a car person. She just tolerates the fact I am. She thinks it's just a guy thing. She just puts up with my toy cars and mods to my trucks. The first time she drove the C5 she came home and could not stop talking about how much she liked that car. She liked the power and how it steers. She is not a car person but she still likes to drive that car. I was shocked that not being a car person she got it when she drove it. She has an 03 Malibu and thinks it's the best car we have. She has driven the C6 a few times and dose not like it. Bottom line is they are both great cars. Get the one you like best and fits your preferences. Drive a few C5s and you will know. I knew the C5 would always be my favorite the first time I drove a C6. But I like the C6 more as time goes on. It's biggest advantage is in summer as it's a vert.

Just as an aside if I had to sell one for some reason it would be the C6.

Haha, maybe I am. It does seem though that with minor mods, a C5 will beat a C6 quite easily or be more of a drivers race. Full exhaust, tune, intake, the C5 will not only sound badass but will most likely take the C6. Looks go either way, Interior, C6 hands down.

Since the C6 is not the new model anymore I would say do it..an 01' 6 speed with some mild mods like headers, CAI, catback and tune is faster then a stock LS2 A6, sounds a lot better, is lot more fun and still several k less and even more if you find one already modded. Upgrade to a double din nav and I doubt you'll miss anything about the C6...well maybe if your headlight motors start acting up but you won't miss them fogging.

Also he is in a LS2 not an LS3 C6 now. C6s have higher gears. A performance ratio C5 would be about even wih a LS2 C6.

my 01' vert has as a CAI, a catback and a tuneup when I race my friends 07 A6 vert I pull him from a 5 mph roll, he gets me on the highway though.

I don't have a problem with the C6's speed or anything else with the car. I just want an M6 and I'm getting a little bored with it. With that said, I have always like the way the C5's looked.

I bought my first vette this past summer and I went with a C5. Although I could get base C6 for few $$$ more, I wanted C5. There is something about C5 that people like, me being one of them. I like the hidden lights, interior (some say it's cheap) but as for me I really can't complain, LS1 or 6 are great and reliable engines. They have enough power and are fairly easy on your wallet. My '04 Z06 puts a smile on my face everytime I'm looking /driving it.

If you're going from the C6, go newer not older, get a C7. My '04 is payed for and I'd hate to have another car payment. But if anything happened to it, I'd replace it with a C7 hands down.

I agree, Although appearance is strictly subjective, the C5 just plain looks better, exception being the wide body c6"s
