So before i left on deployment i hurt my shoulder at the gym. i was trying to put my targa top back on by myslef (usually not difficult) and it slipped and fell and hit the center console putting a perfect cut across it. What would you guys do? would you try to just order a new one from a dealer or is there a vendor on here that sells them? Anyone you guys know that re-upholsters them? any help would be appreciated. i will be home from deployment in a couple weeks and my friend who care takes for me said he would send it out for me so it might be done before i get home. thanks!
Personally I would just buy the replacement cover on ebay, you may save a few bucks over buying a new one, just did a search and there a few listings for under 100 bucks.
yeah i saw the covers.. i guess my thought would be that it would be too loose and it would just not look smooth and sleek like the rest of the interior. i appreciate the help though. i did find a couple oem ones on there but i think 160 for a cover is a bit much. why does everything cost so much just because it says "corvette" on it.
I recently installed one from Mid America Motorworks. It came with a section of piping to go around the traction control plate, and once installed looks quite good IMHO. Installation only took about a half hour, and the double sided tape they provided really helped get everything nice and tight before re-assembly.
My old cover was black with white piping, and the finish on the piping was beyond cleaning. I changed to black / black, and with the bright new embroidering it really freshened the look of the interior. Next DIY project will be refinishing a scuff on driver's side seat bolster. Wish me luck on that one.
I would just buy a slip-on cover from a vendor here and take my time on what the final repair is going to look like if you plan a permanent fix at some point. I had a lot of my interior covered in leather a while back, including the console and lid. It's pricey which is why I'd go with the slip-on if you don't want to spend a lot or want to take your time finding a good deal on an OEM replacement - used ones in good condition come up in the 4-sale section here occassionally.

They do come up for sale here on the forum (used) every now and then. I went with one from Vette Essentials - certainly not cheap but the quality is excellent and top notch leather.
