Default Vendors advertisments.

It might tick off some members here but...
"C5 General
General C5 Corvette Discussion not covered in Tech" is just for the general C5 discussion. I don't get why some vendors are allowed to advertise in this section especially when there is a "C5 Vendor" section already. Please keep "Vendor advertisment" to "C5 Vendor" section. Tired of "Black Friday" and such deals etc.

Because they pay the bills for non supporting members like your self. They pay a hefty price to be a supporting vendor. And can post where they wish.

They support the site, which otherwise you'd be forced to send smoke signals. You gotta pay to play and they are the ones paying for you!

If you look through the number of posts and numbers of forums-- there's a huge amount of bandwidth consumed here (non commentary on post/picture hogs) - - but all that costs money and someone's got to pay the freight.

Most vendor posts are noted as "supporting vendors" under their names- so it's relatively easy to ignore the ones whose titles aren't of interest.

I like the Forum and want it to stay open and operative - Vendors pay a premium price to advertise and keep it up and running!

Just look pat the advertisements and move onto the next thread!

Thanks,Matt

A Corvette forum will always exist. With or without sponsors.

Love it. I knew I'll take some heat for it and that's OK. At the same token, when I need something for my C5, I go to "Vendor" section and look for what I need. I do spend enough $$$ for parts from various vendors on here, they advertise and pay for advertisments here in part from all who order from them. That's how I support the site. Still, "Vendor" section is especially design for them.

I agree to a point. What if the vendors used the space to the right of the posts? Seems to be room to have a block ad with specials. I would be able to see the deals easier.

That sounds like someone that thinks all government 'entitlements' come at no cost. It takes money to things, pure and simple, the venders make the forum possible since we have no benevolent donors picking up the tab.

Thankfully we have the vendors, I don't mind their threads.
Good to learn about new products.
If it wasn't for the vendors, our web site would not be as good as it is!
It all takes money! Thanks to our vendors.

That may be true, but without the financial contribution made by the supporting vendors, I'd bet that it would not be anywhere near as great as the one we have now. I for one have no problem with the supporting vendors advertising wherever they want - for the price they pay they deserve it and if I'm not interested in what they have to offer, I have the choice of just not clicking on their thread.

Part and parcel to the game. But since they pay the freight instead of me I'm OK with it.

You are absolutely, unequivocally wrong. This place is great largely because of the contributions of the regular forum users. This has nothing to do with entitlements. It is exactly the opposite.

If there were no sponsors, there will still be people sharing their passion for Corvettes on the internet. There are plenty of other websites that service *far* more visitors and do so for free (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc.).

CorvetteForum in its current state won't survive without sponsors, but that's not to say that it's impossible to have a similar community without them.

I think I may have been misinterpreted. I don't dislike the fact that sponsors exist. Nearly all of my parts come from sponsors of this forum. However, I don't simply buy from CorvetteForum sponsors because they pay to advertise on the site. I sometimes get annoyed with a few sponsor's methods of advertisement but I can't go into detail or I'll get my hand slapped.
