Default Suspension upgrade.

My 99 Vert was getting little tired from the 96K miles on the clock so I decided to spruce it up a little. New C6Z51 sways, C5Z06 springs and C6Z06 shocks. All I got to say is WOW! I still have to let it settle a bit, do a final ride height adjustment and align, but the ride is day and night from where it was. Even with the Z06 components and lowered the ride is smoother than before and it handles like it's on rails. If you ever thought of upgrading with Z06 stuff don't wait like I did, you won't regret it.

Zagger - I can't wait to share with your enthusiasm! I ordered new shocks and bars over the weekend and I'm not sure I'll be able to wait till Christmas before putting them on :-)

I picked up the springs from forum member. The lowering bolts from West Coast Corvetts and rest from Gene at GM Parts. Great vendor and good prices.
I did not use the longer rear bolts, just opened the stock so only one thread was showing above the nut. This gave me about 1 1/2" gap between tire and top of fender. I also installed 1/4" spacers behind the rear wheels. Now the tire sits perfectly flush with the fender. From what I was told the front lowering bolts are just OEM C6Z06 and have about .250" worth of pad. I installed them within four threads from the bottom and got a gap of about 1 3/4" to the fender. Hope to have the front settle some more, if not I can squeeze another 3/8" by backing the screws all the way out. As for the ride. My old shocks were gone much further than I realized. Some of the roads around here are rely crappie and I was always concerned about bottoming out, heck I was scraping the air dam leaving my driveway with my old 4X4 set up. I'm not sure if it is the new shocks or the stiffer spring but I actually scrape less now then before. The ride is also much better. Yes you will feel the bumps and ruts on the road, but they no longer jar my fillings as the old suspension did. The C6Z06 shock seams to have a great balance between being smooth on little bumps at regular driving and really keeping the rubber down on hard twistees during spirited driving. The body roll is practically gone and the car goes right where you point it. Now I can't wait to get it aligned and head out to the track and see what she will do.

I have an '02 Z51 Coupe with 92k miles & I'm considering just the C6 Z06 shock upgrade since the car has bigger than standard sway bars already. Now I'm thinking I may benefit from the C6 Z51 sway bar upgrade too. Has anyone done this upgrade to their Z51?

I just ordered the C6 Z51 sway bars from Gene @ GM Partshouse for my 99 C5 with the F45 suspension. I'm hoping it will improve the cornering without changing the shocks (which seem to work fine).

I've only got 82k on the 99, but as zagger said, it's feeling a bit mushy, and I'm hoping this will help out a bit.

Anyone else done this upgrade to their C5 w/F45 Select Ride Control suspension WITHOUT changing the shocks?
