Due to stock tire availability I am thinking of going to 18 inch rims on the front. planning on using 275-35/18 on stock rear rims for front and staying with 295-35/18 for rears. Looking at Conti Extreme DWs.
Will this set up cause any traction / active handling problems and how will it look vs stock sizes? appreciate any pics with this combo.
Just 2 weeks ago I put 18s all around on my 02z...with the original F1 295s all around as well. I get some weird bump skipping if youre at full lock going slow, but nothing in normal driving. Made the size upgrade to make it easier to get tires in the spring (and rotate them). Going with Michelin Pilot Super Sports all around 285/35/18s. Theres another member running the same setup with no issues. I dont think youll have any problems with your setup. Id suggest even running a square setup like I plan to do to let you rotate your tires. Happy motoring!

Won't the square set up cause problems with AH/TC. Thought that the rear tire needed to be taller than the front tire.
In theory, yes. In practice, no. I did a ton of research on it and couldnt find one case of the TC not liking the square setup, even in track settings.
I'm running the exact same set up as the op is asking about.....no issues at all with mine. I also run another set of 18" Speedlines at the track with a 315/30 squared setup with zero issues.
Here is a shot with 295/35/18 rear and 275/35/18 front

Thanks for all the inputs. Looks like 18s all around are the way to go.

265/35/18 is the closest size to the stock tire dimensions. I'm running Extreme contact DW's and they are available in both sizes. There is also not much difference if you step up to a 275 width tire.
Looks wise. I don't think there will be a drastic difference but some of it will depend on rim width also.

I'm planning on running 10 1/2 wide rims all around (stock speedline Z06 rears).

Kinda off topic, isnt speedline who made them for 01? From my reading the 01 wheels were lighter right?
