Default Wheel Opinions Please

I dont know anything about wheel sizes or what to look for as far as bolt pattern or size goes. im not very "hands on". But i would like some new wheels for my vette. Id like to see what combinations you guys have come up with or ideas you have. Here is my Vette... What do you think? ALSO i am not made of money, so under $1500, used is OK

Definitely a nice start you have there

Some general guidelines that I like (not saying they're right, just my preference & opinion):

-Keep staggered front and rear wheels - 18F 19R is a popular option that is a little more modern, but not too big
-Stay away from black on an Electron Blue car
-If you have your heart set on black, leave the hoop polished

Here are two 18/19 setups that I've run. The grey ones are 19x11 with a 305/30/19 in the rear and that is what I would consider the widest you can go. They sit flush with the fenders and almost rub on the inside.

Feel free to PM me with any questions!

SVT Bait,

What offset do you have on those gray 19x11's? And what are the offsets, tire size and rim width you have up front?

No mini tub or spacers correct?

I'm sort of in the same boat as the OP, only my budget with tires is closer to $3000-3200.

I went with C6Z replicas (18/19) that I had powdercoated gunmetal gray. Tires are Hankook V12s - 305 rear, 275 front. Tires and wheels together (before powdercoating) were a little more than your stated budget.

I hate to say it, but I do not know what the exact offset is on them. It's my understanding that they were built for a narrow-body C6. To get them to fit on a C5, I had to run a 1/8" spacer, and they are very close to rubbing. My car has no mini tub though.

The fronts are 275/35/18 on a 9.5" wheel.

Personally if I were you I would go used. You can get a lot more for your money. With that budget, it would be easy to pick up a nice used set of CCW SP500 or HREs with tires and have money left over.

Stretch your money another $500 and you can find a nice used set of CCW's. Do a search on here and there are plenty of threads with CCW wheels, I have the SP500s on my Z06, hands down one of the best looking wheels on a C5.

CCW's are nice wheels but they really don't work for me.

First, I drive my car year round and can't dedicate the time needed to keep them looking good in raw aluminum form. Sure I could powdercoat, but that adds to the cost...and Black plastidip isn't my thing.

Second, I'm cool with used, but the only ones that pop up are the same three styles that EVERYONE has. I prefer to be different. Honestly if CF member INXS were to ever sell his, that is what I would want (the T1000). I do like the Classics though, just wanted 19's out back which you can't get...

I've been watching for I-Forged, 360 Forged, HRE, etc...in the used market. Hard to come by with the proper specs for me. But I have time, so I'll keep diligently watching.

Japanese wheels, SSR Comp Type CH $1000. Forged and 1lbs per inch. You can find these used from import car forums, I love mine.

Take a look at TSW wheels - the Nurburgring (sp?) looks good on a C5 and they are reasonably priced.

Edit.

If you are looking for HRE, I-forged, 360 forged you will really have to keep an eye out, your budget is right on the mark though. Unfortunately those wheels still fetch a premium used.
