How difficult, feasible would it be to install a crate 502 into my 1999?
All opinions are appreciated.
Price, workmanship, transmission, etc. My 99 only has 33k on it and runs great.Just looking for more horsepower.
I would not be doing the labor.
thank you!
If you want a big block in you car I will sell you a 540 ci DART BB with dart 340 heads on it. Less than 200 miles on it never been on a track,This is in my 57 chev Belair 2dr hardtop. It made 687 hp on a motor dyno but I had to jet it down to run on the street. I build this car as a show car only just wanted a BB in it. Now would like to put a LS motor in it and just be able to drive it a lot more in good weather...Robert

Guys,
I really appreciate all the advice.
To be a little more specific what i am looking for is about 50+ horsepower the most simple way, money is not a huge issue.Keeping the car close to stock is more important.
Sorry i did not explain this earlier.
Thank you everyone for all your expertise.
That power increase is kind of a crossroads. (50) To keep from opening the motor, you first need LT headers. A good CAI, like Vararam, or the Honker is a must-have. At this level, it's worthwhile to get a dyno tune. For these mods, there won't be any affect on the driving characteristics to your stock car. The power increase will range from 15-35 RWHP, depending on several factors. To add small non-invasive mods will only net maybe 10 more HP.(UD pulley, EWP) Porting of the stock TB, wires, etc. is just snake oil. If you're serious about power, you need to replace the cam/springs. Another re-tune, if you've already done the first set of mods. This, in conjunction with the basic mods, should net you about 55-80 HP. From there, it's aftermarket, or 243/LS3 heads that're CNC'd, and an intake depending on which heads you're getting. About another 50 HP, and of course, another tune. If you haven't come to your senses yet, there's always FI.

Blown is the way to go. Its just so much easier to supercharge it and be done with it. And if you are looking to be around 550-600 rwhp its not that difficult or crazy money spent.

Then I would go with the Supercharger from A&A Superchargers!
It is a true Bolt on and will give you above and beyond the desired HP you look for!
Dollar for Dollar it is the best money spent - you can leave you stock exhaust manifolds, cats and H-Pipe in place - I do recommend at minimum a set of C5 Z06 Titanium mufflers (inexpensive and flow extremely well, for the longest time I ran them at 700+ RWHP) -
And you will have 525+ RWHP from a bolt on!
And like any other major mod it will need to be dyno tuned at a reputable shop!
50hp would be least intrusive with a set of long tubes, CAI, 1.85 rockers/ls6 springs and a tune.
Would have thought you were looking for more when you mentioned wanting a 502ci BB though.
The best replacement for displacement is boost! Though you can build a stout large cube "small block" LS that could come close to competing with the big block for comparable money and it'd be lighter.
