Default fog light blubs

hello guys and gals.
I have a dilemma im trying to solve. my fog lights keep blowing out and they are HID...I think it is because I always get the cheap ones [30-50 dollar ones] so im looking for extremely bright yellow lights for under 30 bucks without getting another HID kit.. any suggestions?

thanks

Man, I've had this same problem ever since I bought the car about 3-4 years ago. I DON'T buy the cheap bulbs, I'd buy SilverStars and I'd install them wearing latex gloves so as not to get oil from my hands on them even and they STILL seem to burn out in a few months! I finally said to hell with it over the summer after replacing one this March and the damn thing going out again in around June-ish.... I've left it burnt out for the time being (just don't run the fogs) and will upgrade to HIDs this spring. Would have done it this summer, but I picked up a new bike and spent my "free" money on mods and parts for it.

Default I use 885 50W bulbs - Cheap and effective

Removed the 889 or 892 37W bulbs about 5 years ago and put in regular $3 885 bulbs. Reaimed the fogs to approximately where the low beams are (with a torx wrench) and use them all the time with the low beam headlights. Don't melt the sockets and provide a lot of extra light.

There is supposed to be a 'gasket' where the bulb snaps in. It acts as a water deterrent. If that gasket is missing water will get into the hot bulb, and guess what happens when cool water hits a hot light bulb.

885's do make a nice difference without the added heat and other problems.

This is what I did also. The 885 bulbs are 50 watt.
