I am fairly new to the Corvette world. I recently purchased mine over the summer. I only drive it on the weekends and have a hard time remembering to push the fuel access cover button when I pull up at the gas pump. After I get out and go to remove the gas cap, I have to open the drivers door, lean in, and push the button.
The thing is, everytime the latch releases, the access door pops open and pats me on the buttocks. Kind of like how every time I park it on Sunday for the week, I pat her on the fender just to remind myself that yes, this car is real...and it is MINE!
P.S. I sure do hate to hear about all y'all northerners having to put your cars away for the winter. It is just now comfortable enough down here to ride with the top off; at least until April when the AC has to come back on.
Welcome to the Corvette world! Almost 8 years ago I brought home my 04 and in the beginning I would find myself sitting in the garage and just staring at it. Eight years later the novelty of its looks has mostly worn off, but not the novelty of its performance. The car's evolved into an almost dedicated track car and I now enjoy it more than ever.
Welcome and great looking C5! I drive mine everyday, burn rubber, triple digit speeds, row the gears like there's no tomorrow. Constantly try to plan the next phase after each mod is done. My end goal is to have a street legal 3000hp land speed C5 with Navi and big sounding woofers!....oh and enjoy it beyond comprehension.
Still have a wee bit of work ahead, so what's your goals?
Kind of ironic that this car slaps you in the *** if you forget to open the gas door, and then reach back in to correct your lack of attention.
I wonder if this is an expression of humor in the cars design. I doubt it, but it does express it's function in that way.
It certainly gives the car some added personality.
My car is a triple black convertible with the old style chrome wheels, looks about as low as yours. Rougher than yours , your pictures show your car well. I hope it serves you as well as it looks.
All the best for the season.
I just thought of a helpful tip, a big deal at my skill level.
Black wax, just the regular Maguires stuff from the auto parts store, really works well . I was at a big deal car event , where the best paint award was given to a Bugatti convertible , a special car, fitted Italian factory luggage, the whole bit. Berry Maguire, the wax guy, not the folk singer, told where to place the sun to judge paint as he gave out the award.
After the black wax, I had the same optical results as the show cars. MY paint is not at that level, but the shine was in the same ballpark, with very little effort or money. Seems to be holding up well, about three months out.
Nice car, it looks just like mine. Drove mine to pick up grandson at school last Tuesday after being stuck in garage for about three weeks. We had early snow and the highway department put that crap all over the roads so I had to wait for the rains to wash them clean! Drove it again Friday but only around the driveway and back into the garage so I could get my Tbird out.

Great looking car! Just a word from up north. When you take the "Vette" out of storage, it's just like a new car all over again.

Welcome and congrats on your first Corvette! I have been a fan of Vettes for over 30 years, and was finally able to get one about 5 years ago. It is my daily driver driver, but because I am one of those northerners i have to put it away for the winter months. I guess I have to live vicariously thru all you southerners!! We are doing our first caravan to BG in August, and I can hardly wait to get my '04 out in April!

Welcome and it is just getting nice again here in No. Cal. Nice car by the way. Merry Christmas
Welcome to the world of C5 Corvette. These cars are a hoot to drive.
As to the weather, yes; those of us in northern climes have to endure a sort of 'withdrawal' during bad weather when salt is on the roads. I was out in the yard pouting the other day because of the weather. Luckily; my wife came out to tell me it will be spring soon. (see picture).
Welcome! Nice ride you have. Got mine in '99 & still enjoy it as much as the first day I got it. It's nasty weather here in the north but I try to drive mine as the weather permits. Got a cover but don't use it as I enjoy seeing it whenever I'm in the garage. Remember to save the wave to other vette owners.
