So a good friend (Randy-JaxEagle on here) sold me his old amp as he went a different direction with his new system. I already had a pioneer head unit on my car, so decided add a little "thump" (not a lot) & an i-pod adapter I've had for a year now & had never installed. I went with a 10' JL stealth sub box designed for C5's. I also wanted it to look factory, yet wanted it to stand out. Here is the finished product. Overall I am VERY HAPPY!! I used Rollin Sound which is a local shop here in Jacksonville, they did a GREAT job & highly recommend them.
Yes I did keep the CD changer, even though it is old technology, I have a ton of CD's....LOL. This set up also allows me to still store the targa top in place for those topless cruises!!
Here is a pic with the cover off of the JL 10' Stealth Sub Box

Looks really great and I'm sure you love the sound. Have a few questions for you as I want to do the same thing. And a JL Stealthbox is what is want to use. Did you keep your front Bose door speakers? You note that you already have a Pioneer head unit. Did you convert to 2 DIN? What power is your sub amp? I can't tell from your pic. What is in the center of your re-designed trunk cover? Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. (I own an '02 vert) Thanks
AFA the CD's , I converted all of mine over to iPod albums using a free app I dl'ed and put them all on my iPhone. Since you now have the iPod hookup, you should consider this as the convenience factor is great - all your CD's at your fingertips at any time without having to fumble around with the changer a few CD's at a time. Very easy to do.
Looks good and what a difference a little bump in the trunk makes
Running Subs, Focal Seperates, 5-Channel Amp and love the ride that much more
Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Did you keep your front Bose door speakers? (Yes, they still work very well, so I decided not to replace until they need replacement) You note that you already have a Pioneer head unit. Did you convert to 2 DIN? (No, it is an older flip out model that when closed only takes up 1 din) What power is your sub amp? (I got the amp from a friend, it is 1500 watts if I am not mistaken. Way more than I need, but that is what he had & I got a GREAT price on it) I can't tell from your pic. What is in the center of your re-designed trunk cover? (It's a black perforated mesh, this allows for the sound to vent) Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. (I own an '02 vert) Thanks
As far as advice, get with the folks that are going to build/put it together & show them pics of what you have in mind. I told my guys I wanted something suttle, yet something noticable (if that makes sense...LOL). Not sure how the trunk area is on a vert with the top down, but again I'm sure good, reputable shops can put something together. The guy I bought the amp from has a vert, so I know anything is possible. Hope that helps, if you have any more questions, just ask or PM me.

Patches thanks for the advice, I did not know you could do that...LOL. I will def look into it!!
wow I really like that cover for the sub, did you make it?
No, the shop did. It is made of the same material as the OEM cover & they cut the whole in the middle, attached the mesh to it. Then they switched the hold down clips over. They basically used the OEM piece to get the dimensions correct.
I've been away from the forum a bit. Busy with work and holidays so this is the first I saw your photos. That looks totally clean and very cool. Looks like it was factory installed. Who did the upholstery on the amp and changer housing? Nice job!

Hey Randyy, JB at Rollin Sound did all the work. We where going to do carpet at first, but could not secure the shale carpet with a pliable back which is what's needed to wrap the amp/changer soround. So JB decided on vinyl (headliner material). He was able to get an exact match & I actually think it looks higher end than the carper would have looked. The actual cover is abs wood if I'm not mistaken.
